Truth be told, not a whole lot goes on when you're married and in college with no children. Study, sleep, eat, work. Well, okay. Work is new.
We've both landed jobs here on campus. Terry is working in the Interdisciplinary Studies office, and I was interviewed and hired today to work in the SOAR office, which is the on-campus need-based tutoring program. I'll be helping people fill out paperwork, schedule appointments... nothing big, really, but it's nice to have the job search out of the way. I start on June 1st, Terry started this week. He's already wowing them. He was able to complete some filing maintenance that they had been putting off for two years in FIVE HOURS. His supervisor was ticked off because he's "working too hard" and showing her up (of course we just laugh about that).
This is the last week of the semester. We have our last day of classes tomorrow, then finals next week. Then THREE WEEKS OFF!! Yay! I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself. Probably housework. And maybe some of the computer gaming I never seem to get to during the semester because it makes me feel guilty...
We're both taking summer classes. We're taking Writing for Mass Media (Journalism) and History of Civilization 2 together during Summer 1, and I'm taking Reporting Summer 2. I believe Terry is also taking an 11-week Economics class which will span both terms (yikes- it'll be a hectic Summer I for him with 3 classes and a job!).
I think I mentioned that Terry chose Economics as his major, but was still undecided about his minor. Well, he recently chose to minor in Journalism, which is my minor as well (one of them, anyway). That'll give us a chance to take some classes together and share the cost of books- yippee!
We're thinking of moving to a new apartment here on campus- one of the snazzy newer ones that have free wireless internet and washers and dryers in the unit. I am SO hoping it works out. Terry got on a waiting list today, and it's 180 long. But, keep in mind that that's for 3 complexes, each with 300 units, and it's graduation time. Plus, some of the people on the list might have already found someplace else to live. I'm still keeping my eye out for Want ads on Facebook for lease takeovers, though. It seems like that might be the quickest way to get into one of the units.
Other then all of that, it's business as usual. I can't believe our college experience is half over. I don't know whether to be wistful or impatient!
