Winding down...

Well, the semester is almost over. I can fully believe it... it has flown, but it's been difficult, too! It'll be nice to have a few weeks off and then get a fresh start in some new summer classes. I plan to take 2 Journalism courses, and probably a developmental math course because I can't put it off anymore (sigh). Terry had been considering taking the second part of Chemistry, but that's up in the air now. He'll be taking something, though.

Terry has changed his major from a BA in Biology to a BA in Economics. He's still contemplating a minor. Choosing a major has been an uphill battle for him, but I think he's making a good choice. It blends both practicality and enjoyment, leaves all kinds of options open for Grad school, and puts him on track to graduate on time, if not a little early.

I love college and am trying to savor it (I know I will NEVER have this kind of freedom again!), but I can't help but feel the pull of the next stage of life. Up until now, having a family was always theoretical- a "someday" thing. But it's been coming to the forefront of my mind a lot more often lately. For the first time, I'm starting to feel equipped and ready to be a mother. But then, I have to laugh, because who is ever truly READY for something like that? But I'm open to it. I guess that's what I mean.

We had some really big storms early this morning. Around 3:45 AM, the wind outside woke us both up, and I went to check the weather on the TV. No go- power was out. That kind of scared me- being cut off like that from vital information- but I fired up my battery-powered Frog shower radio and flipped the tongue over to "AM." I found a 24 hour news channel and found out our county was under a tornado warning! It was in Mansfield, too close for comfort. So we both dressed, dragged a blanket into the bathroom, got some extra batteries for the flashlight, and sat in the tub together for about 15 minutes. After that the storm passed, but I couldn't get to sleep until the power came on again and I could check the weather to make sure nothing else was headed our way. So, we're both a little sleepy this morning. Gotta love spring in Texas, huh?

Oh, and I was elected next year's Vice President of the English Student Association! I'm really excited about it!
